Whether you’re stopping by after a day exploring the beautiful Mt Hood area or looking for a cozy spot to cool off, the experience here blends quality, flavor, and a touch of local character.

The menu features standout delights like their rich Vanilla Bean and decadently deep Chocolate Ice Cream, alongside specialty flavors such as Salted Caramel with its excellent texture, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, which perfectly balances creamy and indulgent notes. Unique creations like Huckleberry Lemonade keep the selection fresh and exciting, reflecting a thoughtful approach to local and seasonal ingredients.

Beyond classic scoops, Mt. Hood Creamery serves up comforting dishes like Shrimp and Grits, a savory offering that hints at a well-rounded menu beyond just ice cream, appealing to those seeking something more substantial. Pairing your scoops with their craft sodas—ranging from the tangy Marionberry Cream to a nostalgic Root Beer—adds a fizzy twist to your visit and complements the creamy desserts beautifully.

The space has a welcoming, shaded deck perfect for enjoying a picnic-style break amidst your travels through the Hood River Valley. The atmosphere encourages a relaxed, family-friendly environment where visitors can savor the fresh, homemade quality of the products without rushing. Many customers return, praising the generous portion sizes and consistent quality. Comments highlight textures that are smooth and flavors that linger, such as the “deep chocolate flavor with perfect creamy texture” or the “best cookies and cream” many have tasted.

While the staff knowledge is noted and appreciated, some have remarked on variability in customer service, which appears to be a small blemish in an otherwise excellent experience. This honesty adds to a balanced picture of the creamery as a local gem with room to grow in customer engagement.

In essence, Mt. Hood Creamery is more than just an ice cream shop—it’s a destination where craft, community, and a love for classic and inventive flavors meet. For families, travelers, and ice cream enthusiasts craving authenticity, it offers a perfectly sweet pause on the way to—and from—the mountains.

Great place to grab some ice cream! They are very knowledgeable about their craft and it shows! The only drawback being the younger gal who helped us quite obviously hates her life and it showed on her face and attitude when she interacted with us. Otherwise, worth going!

This is a small batch creamery so perhaps the flavour selection varies, but today we had seven great choices to pick from and the three we selected were very tasty. High quality ice cream made a pleasant pit stop on the way up to Mt Hood. Yum!

Awesome creamery with homemade ice cream and shakes! We tried peanut butter cup and cookie dough, both smooth creamy fresh and delicious on a hot day. The deck is nice and shaded and we had a nice picnic before indulging. We’ll make this a regular stop in Hood River Valley.

So happy to go in and cool off with some great ice cream. Menu looks amazing though we were there on Tuesday afternoon so just had ice cream available. Understandable considering light traffic during the week. Great flavors- Andes Mint and local coffee chip. Also marionberry and Habanero? It was delicious. Will be back!

We risked driving quite a long way to try the ice cream because we read the review stating that the ice cream is "the best ice cream in the world!". My child asked me to confirm that the ice cream is indeed the best ice cream in the world! My teeth can't handle ice cream; I just bought it for my kids, but the berry ice cream was so beautiful; deep red, I had to try it, and I must say: amazing!

Really great ice cream & generous portion sizes. Kid size is a traditional single scoop, single scoop is a traditional double.

First time here and it was super. There was only one staff member when I went in and she was awesome! She was friendly and fast. She really made the experience enjoyable. Got the chocolate and it was nice and rich tasting. The place is clean and, at the time I went in, plenty of seating.
